About us
We are in Monte do Carrapatelo, near Reguengos de Monsaraz and the great Lake Alqueva, surrounded by centuries-old vineyards and olive groves.
We are the first generation of a family business, entirely dedicated to vineyards and wine. The vineyards are located on soils of low fertility and great geological variety.
We use regenerative viticulture principles in an ancestral and organic way, in accordance with sustainable practices.
Monte do Carrapatelo
O clima continental mediterrânico é caracterizado por pouca chuva e altas temperaturas médias durante o verão contribuindo para uma amplitude térmica pré-colheita equilibrada. Isto fomenta a retenção de ácidos nas uvas, bem como o desenvolvimento dos aromas.
Embora contenham reduzida matéria orgânica, estes são ligeiramente ácidos o que origina favoráveis condições para a retenção de água, impulsionando consequentemente a fertilidade.

He began his professional career at Herdade do Esporão, where he was Production Director for 18 years. He is a consultant to some of the most prestigious wineries in the Alentejo.
He now owns a wine estate in the Alentejo, Monte do Carrapatelo, with 17 hectares of vineyards planted in 2001-2002, when he started his own wine business and the Luís Duarte Vinhos brand.
He has won several international awards for his wines, and the Rubrica brand was ranked 2º in the “Top 100 Wines of the World” selection by the American magazine Wine Enthusiast.
Luís Duarte was one of the creators of “Enoforum”, a project concerned with the export of Portuguese wine, with the collaboration of six Alentejo cooperatives. He is also a member of the Alentejo Wine’s Sustainability Program and promotes sustainable practices in the vineyards and winery.
Distinguished in 2015 by the President of the Republic of Portugal, Aníbal Cavaco Silva, with the Order of Business Merit, Agricultural Merit Class.
